The roots of HI.Lab lie in the history of the OMCD Group companies, which have always based the quality of their products and customer service on the continuous development of their know-how and the updating of their skills.

Given the numerous production activities of the OMCD Group linked to the Powder Metallurgy sector, the Tedeschi family had the intuition to bring together metallurgical expertise in a single centre of excellence which, in addition to guaranteeing the preservation and innovation of knowledge, also knew how to develop synergies between different areas of the powder-based materials sector. This intuition took shape twenty years ago in the Laboratory of F.I.L.M.S. SpA., leader of the Group, which recently took the name of HI.Lab, Hard materials Innovation Lab, and opened up to the outside world, providing clients with unique skills and technologies in the sector.

HI.Lab is:

  • Strongly specialized in the Science of Materials produced by Powder Metallurgy and in particular of materials that are characterized by extreme values of hardness and resistance to high temperatures.
  • Highly technological, as it is equipped with the latest equipment to characterize and study these materials.
  • Devoted to continuous innovation, at the service of clients, thanks to the relentless pursuit of skill development.

What distinguishes HI.Lab is its close connection with the OMCD Group’s production facilities and its vocation to face the scientific and technological challenges that arise in maintaining market leadership.

The metallurgical laboratory HI.Lab is located inside FILMS’ plant, in the Verbano Cusio Ossola, in the north west of Italy.
It is just a few kilometres from the Swiss border and is easily accessible from Milan Malpensa airport.
