As part of its ongoing commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility, OMCD Group has taken another step forward with the launch of a new plant dedicated to the recovery and regeneration of materials containing tungsten and copper, mainly sourced from electrical contacts.

This project complements the Group’s existing Hard Metal recycling plant, which allows the recovery of materials derived from production scraps and worn-out tools, further expanding the range of materials that can be reintroduced into production processes.

The goal is twofold: to recover value from industrial waste and to reduce dependence on external suppliers of raw materials, while strengthening autonomy, sustainability and overall control of the production chain.

A closed-loop process powered by clean energy

The new plant operates with a closed-loop process, with no emissions or external discharges, ensuring maximum environmental safety. The fumes generated during processing are not released into the atmosphere but are reconverted into nitric acid, which is then reused within the production cycle. An advanced scrubber system provides an additional level of protection and control.
As with the existing Hard Metal recycling plant, this new facility is powered by photovoltaic panels, further reducing the environmental impact of the entire process.

Control and supply chain independence

Beyond environmental benefits, the project also strengthens OMCD’s vertical integration strategy.
By managing the recovery and regeneration of metals internally, the Group can maintain full control over its supply chain, ensuring consistent quality, faster response times and more efficient resource management.

This production independence also reduces exposure to fluctuations in raw material markets, reinforcing OMCD’s position as a solid, technologically advanced and sustainable industrial group.

A step forward towards circular economy

With the new copper and tungsten recovery plant, OMCD consolidates its role as a benchmark in sustainable metallurgy.

From Hard Metal regeneration to the recovery of other metals, the Group concretely applies the principles of the circular economy: waste becomes a resource, regenerated materials are reintroduced into production processes, reducing the need for raw material extraction, and the energy used comes from renewable sources.

A path that reflects OMCD’s vision, which aims to innovate responsibly, enhance its technological expertise, and build an increasingly efficient, sustainable and independent production chain.
