{"id":6314,"date":"2026-09-09T09:21:42","date_gmt":"2026-09-09T07:21:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.omcd.it\/?p=6314"},"modified":"2026-09-09T09:38:18","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T07:38:18","slug":"omcd-group-at-euro-pm2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.omcd.it\/de\/omcd-group-at-euro-pm2026\/","title":{"rendered":"OMCD Group at Euro PM2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>From 11 to 14 October 2026, OMCD Group will be in Budapest for Euro PM2026, the annual European Congress dedicated to Powder Metallurgy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Four research contributions<\/h2>\n<p>This year, <strong>four scientific contributions involving the active participation of HI.LAB have been selected for oral presentation<\/strong>, all focusing on the recovery and valorisation of materials containing tungsten and cobalt.<\/p>\n<p>The first, <strong>\u201cNew insights in the Electrochemical Demolition of HM hard scrap\u201d<\/strong>, was developed within the <a title=\"MESCEL Project\" href=\"https:\/\/www.omcd.it\/mescel-project\/\"><strong>MESCEL project<\/strong><\/a>. The authors are Prof. Benedetto Bozzini from Politecnico di Milano, Mirjam Bajt-Leban and Mateja Kosir from ZAG and Axel Bjerke, Gian Pietro De Gaudenzi, Fransisca Pirone and Sandra Tedeschi from HI.LAB. The paper, which will be presented by <strong>Gian Pietro De Gaudenzi<\/strong>, explores the electrochemical demolition process for recovering tungsten and cobalt from hard-metal scrap, with a particular focus on the parameters required to support its industrial implementation.<\/p>\n<p>The second, <strong>\u201cParticle Size and Morphology During Oxidation and Reduction of Recycled Hard Metals and other W-containing End of Life Products\u201d<\/strong>, will be presented by <strong>Axel Bjerke<\/strong> and originates from the internal research activities of the <strong>HI.LAB team<\/strong>. The study investigates the evolution of recycled tungsten powders during oxidation and reduction processes, with the aim of improving their understanding and potential use.<\/p>\n<p>The third, <strong>\u201cAdvances in a hydrometallurgical process with organic acids for a wide and eco-friendly WC-Co scraps recyclability\u201d<\/strong>, will be presented by <strong>Martina Cera from the University of Cagliari<\/strong> and is linked to the activities of the European <a title=\"RESQTOOL Project\" href=\"https:\/\/www.omcd.it\/resqtool-project\/\"><strong>RESQTOOL project<\/strong><\/a>. The research, co-authored by Gian Pietro De Gaudenzi and Axel Bjerke from HI.LAB, together with Prof. Aldo Muntoni, Prof. Giovanna De Gioannis and Prof. Angela Serpe, focuses on a hydrometallurgical process based on low-environmental-impact organic acids derived from food industry waste, aiming to make cobalt recovery from WC-Co materials more flexible and efficient.<\/p>\n<p>Also presented at Euro PM2026 will be <strong>\u201cEdge Toughness Assessment Of Hardmetals\u201d<\/strong>, co-authored by <strong>Fanny Marvaldi<\/strong>, together with academic researchers and members of HI.LAB. Fanny is a doctoral researcher within the <a title=\"AIM-NEXT\" href=\"https:\/\/www.omcd.it\/aim-next\/\"><strong>AIM-NEXT project<\/strong><\/a> and a recipient of a Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie fellowship.
