<strong>European Patent EP 4 484 028<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The patented solution introduces a new way of connecting the cemented carbide insert to the steel holder, eliminating the need for brazing and improving the performance of wire and bar drawing tools.<\/p>\n<h2>The limits of brazed carbide inserts<\/h2>\n<p>In traditional adjustable drawing dies, cemented carbide inserts are typically fixed to the steel holder through brazing.<\/p>\n<p>Although widely used in tungsten carbide tooling, brazing presents several well-known limitations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>thermal stresses generated during the heating cycle<\/li>\n<li>local reduction of steel hardness<\/li>\n<li>residual internal stresses in the assembly<\/li>\n<li>risk of cracks in harder tungsten carbide grades<\/li>\n<li>impossibility of applying CVD coatings due to the high brazing temperatures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In demanding wire drawing and bar drawing applications, these factors may affect reliability, durability and design flexibility.<\/p>\n<h2>The innovation: a fully mechanical locking system<\/h2>\n<p>The patented R&#038;C BLOCK eliminates brazing entirely.<\/p>\n<p>The cemented carbide insert is connected to the steel holder through a <strong>100% mechanical locking system<\/strong>, based on three combined elements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Longitudinal dovetail coupling<\/strong><br \/>\nProvides permanent lateral stability between insert and holder.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Longitudinal taper of insert and seat<\/strong><br \/>\nPrevents any forward movement during the drawing process.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rear mechanical locking with screws<\/strong><br \/>\nEnsures structural rigidity while allowing controlled disassembly when required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The result is a
