{"id":6147,"date":"2026-02-04T09:58:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-04T08:58:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.omcd.it\/?p=6147"},"modified":"2026-02-04T10:02:06","modified_gmt":"2026-02-04T09:02:06","slug":"a-new-plant-for-copper-and-tungsten-recovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.omcd.it\/de\/a-new-plant-for-copper-and-tungsten-recovery\/","title":{"rendered":"A new plant for copper and tungsten recovery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of its ongoing commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility, OMCD Group has taken another step forward with the launch of a <strong>new plant dedicated to the recovery and regeneration of materials containing tungsten and copper<\/strong>, mainly sourced from electrical contacts.<\/p>\n<p>This project complements the Group\u2019s existing <strong>Hard Metal recycling<\/strong> plant, which allows the recovery of materials derived from production scraps and worn-out tools, further expanding the range of materials that can be reintroduced into production processes.<\/p>\n<p>The goal is twofold: to <strong>recover value from industrial waste<\/strong> and to reduce dependence on external suppliers of raw materials, while strengthening autonomy, sustainability and overall control of the production chain.<\/p>\n<h2>A closed-loop process powered by clean energy<\/h2>\n<p>The new plant operates with a closed-loop process, with <strong>no emissions or external discharges<\/strong>, ensuring maximum environmental safety. The fumes generated during processing are not released into the atmosphere but are <strong>reconverted into nitric acid<\/strong>, which is then reused within the production cycle. An advanced scrubber system provides an additional level of protection and control.<br \/>\nAs with the existing Hard Metal recycling plant, this new facility is <strong>powered by photovoltaic panels<\/strong>, further reducing the environmental impact of the entire process.<\/p>\n<h2>Control and supply chain independence<\/h2>\n<p>Beyond environmental benefits, the project also strengthens OMCD\u2019s <strong>vertical integration strategy<\/strong>.<br \/>\nBy managing the recovery and regeneration of metals internally, the Group can maintain <strong>full control over its supply chain<\/strong>, ensuring consistent quality, faster response times and more efficient resource management.<\/p>\n<p>This production independence also reduces exposure to fluctuations in raw material markets, reinforcing OMCD\u2019s position as a solid, technologically advanced and sustainable industrial group.<\/p>\n<h2>A step forward towards circular economy<\/h2>\n<p>With the new copper and tungsten recovery plant, OMCD consolidates its role as a benchmark in <strong>sustainable metallurgy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>From Hard Metal regeneration to the recovery of other metals, the Group concretely applies the principles of the <strong>circular economy<\/strong>: waste becomes a resource, regenerated materials are reintroduced into production processes, reducing the need for raw material extraction, and the energy used comes from renewable sources.<\/p>\n<p>A path that reflects OMCD\u2019s vision, which aims to <strong>innovate responsibly<\/strong>, enhance its technological
